The sun shone on Casino in early August when the flashiest trucks around came to town for the annual North Coast Petroleum Casino Truck Show. Rod Hannifey, driving the TruckRight Industry Vehicle, filed this report
The 2016 North Coast Petroleum Casino Truck Show, held on August 6, was arguably the biggest so far.
It was a case of the trucks taking over the town, with a parade through the main streets led by ScuzzTrans and its Ned Kelly-themed Western Star.
Other showpieces included the North Coast Petroleum tanker set, the Iveco Triple Eight V8 Supercar transporter, StockTrans B-double, Hernes Freight Service fridge vans, B-double tippers, log trucks and one of the stars of the show, the Bandag Bullet.
There were more than 100 prime movers taking part and the town turned out in force to participate, giving the locals a feast of the best looking trucks from the NSW north coast and south-east Queensland.
In addition, stalls and kids’ rides, a petting zoo, big yellow truck slide, plus a free rail-less train carried kids and friends to and from the truck displays, while the local shops did a roaring trade.
The North Coast Trucking Social Club had a food stall and the local pubs also did well and into the night.
There were over 40 categories in the judging and a first prize of $1000. The impressive trophies themselves were worth competing for.
Mark Causley won Truck of the Show and the $1000, along with Best Engine bay. Last year’s Truck of the Show, Churchill’s K200, came in as one of the Top 5 Judged Elite.
North Coast Petroleum won best tanker, StockTrans was voted Best Livestock Truck, Tony Graham Roadfreight took out the Best Rigid award, and SRV Road Freight came out on top in the Best Fleet award, beating Eklund Transport and Cromack Transport.

Congratulations to the organisers for the event, to the 163 entrants in the parade, those who provided the invited B-double combinations, all who took part in the show and the winners.
