Daimler in US sets industry sales record

Daimler Trucks North America announces strongest month on record for incoming truck orders

Daimler Trucks North America has achieved a record number of incoming truck orders for a one-month period during October.

Daimler says that the order figure for the month is the largest they have on record and sets an industry benchmark.

In the medium-heavy duty vehicle segment (Class 6 – 8), 31,304 Daimler units were ordered over the month, which accounts for 51.9 per cent of the industry total.

Daimler says that the spike can be contributed to several large fleet orders, as well as an upswing from small to medium sized fleets looking to replace aging vehicles.

“The number of incoming orders generated by Daimler Trucks North America in October demonstrates that our strategy is effective and that our vehicles provide customers with tangible benefits,” Daimler board member Wolfgang Bernhard says.

Daimler’s product portfolio includes Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built buses.

“Daimler Trucks has a broader global footprint than any other manufacturer with strong pillars in Europe, America and Asia. Intelligent platforms and components sharing enable us to deliver in each region the products with the best total cost of ownership for our customers,” Bernhard adds.

“Daimler Trucks North America is proud of our record-breaking October and we offer our sincere thanks to our customers and dealers for their confidence in our products,” Daimler Trucks North America CEO Martin Daum says.
