Engines and engine parts were by far and away the most-enquired upon truck parts on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network over the past six months

Engines and engine parts were the most-enquired-upon truck part type on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in the in the period October 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020, exclusive new data reveals.

Some 6,585 parts – from air cleaners to wheel ends – are currently advertised for sale across the network comprising Fullyloaded.com.au, OwnerDriver.com.au, TradeTrucks.com.au and TradeEarthmovers.com.au – reaching more than 256,000 ‘unique’ in-market buyers in March 2020 alone.

Despite accounting for just 4.5 per cent of parts for sale, and 7.03 per cent of parts searches, engines and engine parts generated 32.76 percent of enquiries in the period.

Bullbars and bumpers, which make up 14.65 per cent of parts for sale, accounted for a gigantic 42.49 per cent of searches and 17.23 per cent of enquiries; while cabs and cab parts, which comprise less than 3 per cent of parts for sale, generated 7.33 per cent of searches and 13.27 per cent of enquiries.

Rounding out the top five, transmissions and gearboxes – comprising 4.87 per cent of parts for sale – generated 13.25 per cent of searches and 11.29 per cent of enquiries; while mirrors and lights – accounting for 20.91 per cent of parts for sale – notched up 4.23 per cent of parts enquiries.

Cummins powers ahead

Cummins was the most-enquired-upon truck engine make on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in the in the period October 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020, exclusive new data reveals.

While Caterpillar accounted for the lion’s share of searches (50.08 per cent), this failed to convert into commensurate enquiries, with the brand generating only 14.42 per cent of enquiries registered for engines and engine parts.

Conversely, Cummins generated 49.03 per cent of total enquiries off a substantially less 19.12 per cent of searches.

Surprisingly, Mercedes-Benz was the subject of 10.57 per cent of enquiries off just 1.57 per cent of searches in the period; ahead of Detroit (6.22 per cent of searches; 7.69 per cent of enquiries); and Hino (4.03 per cent of searches; 4.8 per cent of enquiries).
