Fiat recalls Ducato vehicles

Ignition switch fault may cause engine, power steering, power brakes, and airbags to stop working

Fiat Chrysler Australia has recalled an unknown number of Fiat Ducato light commercial vehicles over an ignition switch issue.

According an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission notice, “there is a risk that the ignition switch may move out of the run position, resulting in a partial loss of electrical power and turning off the engine which can disable the power steering, power brakes and stop the airbags from inflating during a crash.”

The result of which “may cause injury to driver and/or other road users by potentially causing people to lose control of their vehicles and may cause serious injuries or death,” the notice says.

The affected vehicles have been sold nationally from Fiat Chrysler Australia.

The company says it will contact owners and organise repairs.
