Trimble to launch updated CarCube unit

The sixth-generation on-board unit promises safety improvements

Trimble Transport & Logistics has unveiled its latest generation CarCube on-board computer, with greater processing power, DIN slot format, and a high-resolution touch screen.

According to the technology manufacturer, the updated solution features a 3D map view for navigation and “now shows drivers precisely where they can change lanes to optimise efficiency.”

For drivers heading towards bridges and tight bends, the navigation system can alert them of any insufficient clearance issues or specific safety information. The feature remains active throughout a tunnel journey, Trimble says.

Trimble has also added an option to manage documents, such as manuals and safety instructions, in Microsoft Word and PDF formats, and videos.

Australian country manager Steven Reynolds says the focus of the sixth-generation “CarCube on-board computer was user-friendliness and safety.”

He says part of the user-friendliness comes at the time of installation too, pointing to the new DIN format.

“A fixed installation of the CarCube will continue to be part of our hardware concept in the future,” Reynolds says.

“However, we have focused on shorter installation times and easier operation with the new DIN slot format.”

The CarCube will be on show at next week’s Melbourne-based International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show.

Trimble says it will also have its FleetXPS Android mobile app and Truck4U on-board unit at the show.
