Dometic shows off new CoolAir models

The Dometic CoolAir RTX 1000 and RTX 2000 truck air conditioners are on show at the 2016 ITTES

Dometic Australia has unveiled its latest truck air conditioners, the Dometic CoolAir RTX 1000 and the RTX 2000, at the 2016 International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show today.

According to the company, the new models “have exceeded industry standards with better performance and efficiency than ever before.”

The more powerful of the two, the CoolAir RTX 2000, which operates at 2000 watts, generates more than twice the cooling power of its predecessor with the same runtime due to the variable speed compressors.

Designed for longer stops in more moderate climates, the CoolAir RTX 1000 is an economical option, making careful use of on-board power resources.

Dometic says the model also includes “a reliable and accurate battery voltage monitor fitted with a sensor line to maintain the trucks starting ability.”

Both models have undergone Australian testing in extreme conditions by Dometic’s product development engineers, who “utilised a global first mobile data interface that enabled them to retrieve data from field test equipment around the globe wirelessly and in real time,” the company says.

“These up-to-date measurements were directly analysed by engineers and utilised in the RTX development process over many months, where these results far outweighed any results that could previously be obtained in laboratory conditions in the climate chamber.”

For use inside the cab, both units retain four operating modes: Auto, Eco, Manual, and Boost.

When it comes to attaching the units, Dematic says the “new CoolAir RTX series retains all the well-known features including a tailor-made vehicle specific installation concept, which guarantees excellent installation results and utmost process safety, TÜV approval, e-certification and convenient operation by remote control for optimal user comfort.”

Dometic says installation kits suit various European truck models for both models.

For others, Dometic says screw and bracket-mounting options will work with its two universal installation frames.

While on display at ITTES at the moment, the products will be available at Dometic retailers in June.
