Deals Data reveals most popular trailer types

Drop-deck trailers were the most-searched trailer type across the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in the first six months of 2019

 

Drop-decks were the most-searched trailer type on the Bauer Media Group truck and machinery classifieds network in the period January 1-June 16, 2019, exclusive new data reveals.

Some 2,100 second-hand trailers – from A trailers to water tankers – are currently advertised for sale across the network comprising Fullyloaded.com.au, OwnerDriver.com.au, TradeTrucks.com.au, TradeEarthmovers.com.au, TradeFarmMachinery.com and TradePlantEquipment.com.au – reaching an average of almost 500,000 ‘unique’ in-market buyers each and every month.

Drop decks, which account for just over 9 percent of trailers for sale, generated 13.25 percent of searches in the period, ahead of low loaders, which were responsible for almost 10.4 per cent of searches despite comprising a substantially less 4.8 per cent of stock.

Not surprisingly, tippers – which comprise just under 8 per cent of stock – were among the most-searched trailer types, accounting for 9.9 per cent of searches; while dog trailers, despite comprising just 3.3 per cent of stock for sale, generated 9 per cent of searches.

Rounding out the top 5, tankers were responsible for 8.74 per cent of searches, despite comprising just 4.5 per cent of stock.

TIPPERS GENERATE LOADS OF INTEREST

As well as being the most searched, drop decks also generated the greatest number of enquiries of all trailer types on the Bauer Media Group truck and machinery classifieds network for the period January 1-June 16, 2019.

The trailers class generated 14 per cent of enquiries in the period, well ahead of tippers (9 per cent) and low loaders (7.2 per cent).

Flat decks, which comprise 9.47 per cent of stock items for sale, accounted for 6.1 per cent of enquiries; while B-doubles – at just over 4 per cent of stock – generated 5.4 per cent of enquiries.

Rounding out the top 10 most enquired upon types were dog trailers (5 per cent), tankers (3.97 per cent), tag trailers (2.52 per cent), side tippers (2.16 per cent) and refrigerated trailers (1.8 per cent).
