Trailers were second only to trucks as the most-searched and enquired-upon product types on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in 2019

Aside from trucks, trailers were the most-searched product type across the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in the period January 1-November 28, 2019, exclusive new data reveals.

More than 18,000 truck ‘types’ – from bodies to tyres and wheels – are currently advertised for sale across the network comprising Fullyloaded.com.au, OwnerDriver.com.au, TradeTrucks.com.au, TradeEarthmovers.com.au, TradeFarmMachinery.com and TradePlantEquipment.com.au – reaching almost 443,000 ‘unique’ in-market buyers in November alone.

While trucks accounted for almost three-quarters of total searches and just over 66 per cent of total enquiries off the back of 33.75 of total stock items, trailers – which comprise 11.48 per cent of total stock – generated 17.6 per cent of searches and 14.14 per cent of enquiries.

Trucks parts were the third-most searched and enquired upon item, accounting for 3.03 per cent of searches and 3.84 per cent of enquiries; followed by trucks available for dismantling, which generated 2.75 per cent of searches and 1.25 per cent of enquiries.

Round out the list were truck bodies (1.21 per cent of searches and 1.51 per cent of enquiries), off-road trucks (0.5 per cent of searches and 1.024 per cent of enquiries), and tyres and wheel (0.4 per cent of searches and 0.45 per cent of enquiries).

Buyers load up

Despite accounting for just under 5 per cent of trailers for sale, low loaders are proving popular with buyers on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network.

Low-loaders were the most-searched trailer type across the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in the period January 1-November 28, 2019, exclusive new data reveals.

Almost 2,100 trailers – from A-trailers to water tankers – are currently advertised for sale across the network.

Low loaders, which account for just under 5 per cent of trailers for sale, generated an out-sized 12.26 per cent of searches and 8.3 per cent of enquiries in the period, ahead of tippers, which were responsible for 11.3 per cent of searches and 15.67 per cent of enquiries off the back of 8.15 per cent of stock.

Tankers – which comprise 4.43 per cent of stock – were the third most-searched trailer type, accounting for 10.5 per cent of searches and 4.06 per cent of enquiries.

Rounding out the top five, dog trailers were responsible for 9.82 per cent of searches and 7.14 per cent of enquiries, despite comprising just 3.47 per cent of stock; while B-doubles generated 5.39 of searches and 3.93 per cent of enquiries off the back of 1.7 per cent of stock.

Notably, flat-deck trailers – which make up 7.86 per cent of stock – were responsible for 9.44 per cent of enquiries despite accounting for a little over 4 per cent of searches.
