SEA Electric taps Gillespie as regional leader

Former senior Hino executive takes position of president – Asia Pacific

SEA Electric’s new president – Asia Pacific is former Hino vice president of brand and franchise development Bill Gillespie.

The seasoned trucks and cars executive stepped away from the Japanese brand three weeks ago and his new firm casts the appointment on the backdrop of its continued growth.

Gillespie brings to the business a wealth of automotive industry experience in both the passenger vehicle market with Toyota, Kia and Nissan then more recently in the truck industry with Hino Australia.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Bill to the SEA Electric family,” SEA Electric founder and president Tony Fairweather says.

“This is an exciting time for SEA Electric, especially in the Asia Pacific region, with Bill set to anchor the market development team, enabling the region to achieve its substantial growth forecast.

“Glen Walker’s position will be renamed ‘vice president – Asia Pacific’, and he will continue his incredible work in providing high quality and efficiently produced electric vehicle products to the Asia Pacific region.”

The company notes Gillespie joins SEA Electric at an exciting time for the manufacturer, which is to launch its Australian-produced range of 100 per cent electric-powered trucks at next week’s Brisbane Truck Show.

It also comes as global truck-makers throw down the gauntlet to upstart electric vehicle manufacturers intent on disrupting their market, with both sides facing off at a Brisbane Truck Show that has never been so ‘electric’.

“I’m incredibly optimistic about joining the SEA Electric business at a time when the market demand for zero-emission logistics and vehicles is growing, and to have a role in an Australian company with a global footprint like SEA Electric is a once in a career opportunity,” Gillespie says.
