All roads lead to Castlemaine this November

Truck lovers around the country are counting down the days until the gates open on the 2023 HHA & Larsen’s Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show in November

Hit the Midland Highway out of Melbourne and head north-northwest for 120km and you’ll land in the regional country town of Castlemaine.

Make the journey at the end of November and you can expect to find the streets packed to the rafters with trucks and members of Australia’s trucking community as they gear up to celebrate one of the country’s premier regional truck shows for the 35th time.

The weekend of November 25 and 26 has been set aside for the 2023 HHA & Larsen’s Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show and it’s sure to be a big one.

In the wake of the COVID closures of the past few years, both Alexandra Truck Show (in Victoria) and Casino Truck Show (in NSW) clocked up record numbers of entrants from a trucking community keen to get back together and celebrate their trucks and the camaraderie they’ve missed in an event-free world.

Trucks line up at 2022’s Castlemaine event

For HHA (Heavy Haulage Australia) boss Jon Kelly, a major sponsor of the Castlemaine event along with Dave Larsen from Larsen’s Truck Sales, the show is a highlight of the annual calendar.

“This show produces the best trucks in the country and the people who support it set the benchmark in trucking,” Kelly says.

Entries for the 2023 event are now open, with multiple judging categories covering a wide range of working and show trucks.

Jeromey Edwards from JBE Transport, who won last year’s Rig of the Show with his 2008 Kenworth, is coming back as a sponsor of a new Engine Bay category in 2023.

For others the Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show is a chance to relax with their families and catch up with old mates.

There is live music all weekend, a range of catering suppliers and a licensed bar onsite too. Shamick Transport had such a great time last year with their team that they are returning as a feature sponsor providing free children’s rides and entertainment.

All proceeds raised from the event go to support Castlemaine Rotary’s community projects and youth scholarships.
