Refrigerated truck rental company Eurocold has announced the acquisition of Perth-based rental company Damien Cole Group (DCG).
DCG has been in operation for nearly 60 years, supplying a large range of refrigerated vehicles, from vans to 14 pallet trucks.
Acquiring the refrigerated assets of DCG, Eurocold plans to use this as the start of its next phase of expanding its platform through Australian capitals, starting with Perth.
Since last October, Eurocold has been providing trucks to the Victorian market, with Eurocold owner Avraam Solomon heading up the Melbourne-based operation and working with experienced transport operator Kevin Duong.
In the coming months, Eurocold will launch a depot in Laverton North, roughly 18km from the Melbourne CBD, to provide rentals, sales and repairs to customers.
Eurocold will also take the keys of a new 8,677sqm production facility in the City of Logan outside Brisbane, with the new space being a 620 per cent increase of floor space compared to its current headquarters.
Once the WA acquisition is complete, the state’s Eurocold team will draw on the experience of the DCG team while adding Eurocold resources to the region.
Solomon – who has been in the refrigerated transport industry for more than three decades – has been honoured throughout his career, such as having companies he’s been involved in listed in BRW’s Top 500 Private Companies and Fastest Growing 100 Companies. He was also awarded the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Young CEO of the Year in 2008.
“Perth is the next place for Eurocold to expand its footprint,” he says.
“It has been a process with Damien Cole and his team to come to this point where we acquire the refrigerated transport part of DCG. Damien will retain the other areas of his broad transport business.
“Eurocold is excited by the opportunities that exist with the DCG team that the market has become so familiar with and the additional opportunities that this brings for our business nationally.
“Our head office and additional state depots will allow DCG to streamline administrative, technology and product supply processes.
In WA, Solomon says he wants to build on providing larger trucks to the broader state, while he’s happy with how Eurocold has been accepted in the Victorian market.
“As we head towards opening the new depot in Laverton North, Eurocold’s coverage is across South East Queensland into Northern New South Wales, down through Newcastle and Sydney to Canberra, now Victoria and Western Australia all being able to access Eurocold refrigerated truck rentals,” Solomon says.
“Through our announcement last week regarding the investment of Petit Forestier Group, and being in the process of heading to our new headquarters in the City of Logan, it is an incredible time of growth for Eurocold, with more well and truly in the pipeline.”
