Convoy for Kids returns to Adelaide

Novita Children’s Services’ Convoy for Kids will return to Adelaide after a five-year hiatus.

On November 2, over 60 trucks will be travelling a circuit near Adelaide’s CBD in order to raise money for children with disabilities. The Novita Children’s Services’ Convoy for Kids will also involve a family fun day carnival, which will be held at South Parklands between 9.30am and 2pm.

The Convoy Carnival will include live entertainment, a show ‘n’ shine competition, an appearance by Mack from the Disney movie Cars, and more.

“Convoy for Kids was started more than 20 years ago by Novita and a group of dedicated people from the transport industry and the Lion’s Club of Elizabeth, who had a desire to help children with disabilities,” Novita chief executive Glen Rappensberg says.

As well as raising money for Novita, the convoy will also give children with disabilities and their siblings the opportunity to take a ride in the big rigs.

“The needs of children with a disability are broad and complex, which is why events like this are so important. Funds raised will help us to work with children and families as well as developing important infrastructure and implement the latest innovations in clinical practice,” Rappensberg says.

The event is sponsored by the CMV Group, which is celebrating its 80th birthday.

“We’re hoping truckies from all over South Australia will join in to help raise money for Novita. The organisation does amazing work with kids across the state, and an event like this is not only a fantastic family day out, but also unites us all in giving something back to our community,” CMV Group managing director Paul Crawford says.

People looking to participate in either the show ‘n’ shine or the truck convoy should fill out the registration form over at the Novita website.
