Hot country for Penrith Working Truck Show

Some of Australian country music's biggest stars will perform live on March 20 at the Penrith Working Truck Show

 

For country music fans, the Penrith Working Truck Show in the grounds of Penrith’s Museum of Fire is the place to be on March 20.

The ‘Country Music Extravaganza’ has always been a major attraction at the truck show and this year will be no exception. Adam Brand and The Outlaws will share top billing with the Girls Of Country, performing live on the main stage.

The Outlaws, namely Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr, are all talented artists in thei own right. This country music ‘supergroup’ released its debut self-titled album in January.

The Girls of Country, consisting of Amber Lawrence, Christie Lamb and Aleyce Simmonds, is an equally impressive line-up. Lawrence was crowned Female Artist of the Year at Tamworth in 2015; Lamb picked up her first Golden Guitar award in January when voted the Qantaslink New Talent of the Year; while Simmonds is a former winner of the Telstra Road to Tamworth quest.

As well as the music, more than 200 working trucks from around western Sydney’s transport hub and beyond will be vying for trophies. At the 2015 event, truck entries came from as far away as Queensland.

Children’s entertainment includes 12 free thrill rides. Admission is $35 for adults, with up to three children under 16 years admitted free with each adult entry. 

The Museum of Fire, located in the old Penrith Power Station at 1 Museum Drive (off Castlereagh Road, opened as Australia’s only dedicated Fire Safety Education Centre in 1986.

Over the past 28 years, approximately 50,000 visitors per year pass through the museum which houses one of the finest collections of firefighting memorabilia in the world.
