Nominations open for Deniliquin Truck Show’s new Wall of Fame

This year’s Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo will honour an individual from the Southern Riverina region

This September will see the first induction to the Deniliquin and District Transport Industry Wall of Fame, which will be held on September 9, on the eve of the Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo.

An initiative of the show and expo committee, the Wall of Fame will honour people in the industry in the Southern Riverina region – Deniliquin, Finley, Berrigan, Barooga, Barham, Tocumwal, Hay, Mathoura, Moama, Moulamein, Barham, Conargo and Jerilderie.

The committee says the Wall of Fame is a way of honouring anyone who has made a difference, contribution or had an impact on the local trucking industry. Posthumous award nominations are also welcome.

All nominations that meet the criteria will be judged by an independent judging panel and the 2016 inductee will be announced at a gala dinner held at the Deniliquin RSL Club on Friday, September 9, 2016.

“We are seeking members of the public to nominate individuals that have worked in the transport
industry for over 20 years,” says president of the Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo John Creenuane.

“Nominating someone who has worked or is working in the transport industry in the southern Riverina is a simple process.

“We will induct a nominee each year to be added to the wall, which will be located in the parking bay on Davidson Street, Deniliquin.

“This will ensure access to everybody and will become a further attraction to the town.”

All nominees, family, friends and members of the public are invited to attend the gala presentation dinner at the Deniliquin RSL Club, Friday, September 9.

The evening will include guest speakers TransHelp Foundation CEO Di Carroll, and Brendan ‘Bumper’ Farrell, who founded the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners.

Tickets for the dinner and presentation are $50 per person, and can be purchased at the club’s reception from July 1.

Nominations close on June 30, 2016 and nomination forms are available at www.denitruckshow.com.au/wall-of-fame.
