Penrith Truck Show cancelled

The Penrith Working Truck Show, which was due to be held on March 29, has been cancelled

Following the Australian Government’s ban on all public gatherings of over 500 people due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Penrith Museum of Fire, organisers of the Penrith Working Truck Show, have cancelled this year’s event.

The 2020 show was due to be held on Sunday, March 29 in the grounds of the Museum of Fire. It was again expected to attrack hundreds of trucks, as well as thousands of owners, drivers and the geenral public.

“As a charitable organisation, the show is the museum’s primary fundraiser for the year and so this decision will have major financial implications for the day-to-day operations of the museum,” the Museum of Fire said in a statement.

“The museum and show operate primarily thanks to the efforts of both current and retired firefighters and, following a very difficult summer of fires and floods, this international crisis is a very large blow to museum operations.

“Due to recent events, group bookings and tours to the museum have also been cancelled which has further caused financial strain.

“As such we urge you to please donate to the museum.”

Instead of the paying the usual entry fee to the show, the Museum of Fire is asking for donations through its website at www.pwts.com.au.

“All contributions large and small are both welcome and greatly appreciated and will assist in our ability to run the show in 2021,” the Museum of Fire says.

The next Penrith Working Truck Show will be held on March 28, 2021.

The Museum of Fire was scheduled to host the Sydney Classic and Antique Truck Show on May 31 this year but due to government crowd restrictions, this event will also not run. However, organisers are considering running a truck event later in the year.
