BTS21: Leading the way

PACCAR Australia is set to unfold a legendary experience for visitors at the 2021 Brisbane Truck Show. Visit PACCAR Australia in the Foyer (Stand 40) to see all that is new this year and join the team in celebrating 50 glorious years of manufacturing Kenworth trucks in Australia

The PACCAR Australia stand is going to display some of the company’s newest and most popular trucks this year. Among the highlights will be the new Kenworth T410SAR, which was launched in the middle of last year.

Purpose-designed and manufactured to specification with uncompromising quality at PACCAR’s production facility in Melbourne, Kenworth trucks are one of the most durable, heavy-duty trucks ever built and have led the local market segment for more than a decade.

This year, Kenworth is celebrating 50 years of manufacturing excellence in Australia. It was on March 2, 1971 that the first all-Australian Kenworth rolled off the line at the Bayswater factory in Victoria.

Fifty years on, 60 models and 70,000 trucks later, Kenworth is now not only Australia’s leading heavy-duty truck builder, it has become an integral part of many Australian industries, companies and transport families.

The company’s success has been underpinned throughout by an unwavering commitment to designing and manufacturing trucks specifically for Australian conditions.

Also on display will be some of DAF Trucks Australia’s XF and CF models. Released in February last year, the XF and CF model range took the Best in Class gong at the 2020 Good Design Week.

DAF’s XF and CF range trucks are pushing the envelope of excellence in safety, fuel efficiency, driver comfort, exterior styling and cab design for the Australian heavy-duty truck market.

The team of DAF engineers work closely with their Dutch counterparts to validate the trucks for local conditions. Some of the engineers will be there at the stand to share their knowledge and offer advice for customers seeking their right truck for their business applications.

KENWORTH

Combining the best attributes of both a cab-over and conventional truck, on display at the stand this year will be the new Kenworth T410SAR, available with PACCAR Powertrain, including the MX-13 460hp (340kW) or 510hp (375kW) engine and PACCAR 12-speed automated transmission. An ideal combination for single trailer, tipper and dog and a variety of heavy-duty applications.

Offering better weight distribution with its set-forward front axle and classic Kenworth styling, the T410SAR delivers bigger payloads, a superior driver environment, improved fuel economy and a greater choice of options.

Other Kenworth models on display will be a T360 rigid day cab, T610 with 1,400mm sleeper (pictured below) and Cummins X15 Euro 6 engine, and the iconic T909 and K200 models.

One of the key design aspects of all Kenworth trucks is safety. These trucks are designed, tested and built to weather the tough Australian conditions. The design and engineering teams are focused on producing trucks that have the right engine power, torque, gearing, axle ratios, braking system, wheels, tyres and cooling management for different applications. Meanwhile, the aircraft-quality alloys provide structural strength to the cabs that are designed to offer outstanding visibility – forward, back and all around.

Talk to the team at Stand 40 to find out more about these and other Kenworth models and PACCAR’s innovative technologies including its integrated PACCAR Powertrain.

DAF

DAF Trucks Australia will showcase models from its Euro 6 range. The result of extensive experience and redesign in Europe, DAF Trucks launched its next generation of models in Australia early last year – the new XF and CF range, pictured below.

The new models feature engine innovations, new drivelines and aerodynamic optimisations that significantly reduce fuel consumption and increase productivity.

They also feature enhanced safety features, and an updated interior and exterior design for driver comfort and appeal.

Since the assembly of the first DAF truck in Australia three years ago, DAF has had a significant increase in production. In fact, the number of DAF trucks being produced in the Bayswater manufacturing facility has doubled since 2018.

The first model to have rolled off the assembly line was the CF85 510 FTT model.

Now, the Victorian facility is producing the CF 530 FTT, CF 480 FTT and CF450 FTT sleeper cab models from semi knocked-down (SKD) kits supplied by DAF Trucks in The Netherlands.

Don’t forget to stop by the PACCAR Australia stand to check out some of DAF’s most popular models, including the FTT XF530 super space cab with MX-13 engine (pictured below), the FAT CF530 steel tipper body with MX-13 engine, the FTT CF530 with MX-13 engine, the FTT CF450 with MX-11 engine and the FA LF260.
