Tramanco is providing even greater ease of weight management with the new Smart-R Amp on-board mass (OBM) system
Specifically designed and manufactured by Tramanco in Brisbane, the original Smart-Amp was first installed in commercial applications in 1984 as a complete replacement OBM system.
Tramanco also went down the import path in the early 1980s but soon realised that the limitations of two channels did not suit Australian multi-vehicle combinations, such as B-doubles, road trains, and truck-and-dog trailer combinations.
With some imported systems, you need to buy and install up to four separate systems on a B-double or a truck-and-dog. Or, you could get a single Chek-Way system from Tramanco.
Its unique digital multiplexing communications signal introduced the ability to recognise connected vehicles and resolve the problem of having to recalibrate whenever trucks and trailers were interchanged.
These unique software features are called Auto-Cal and Auto-ID and are part of the Transport Certification Australia (TCA) Type-A and Type-B approvals.
Just like the original Smart-Amp, the new Smart-R Amp resolves these problems and keeps records in its own internal memory, thus saving a trip to a weighbridge each time vehicle combinations are interchanged.

Tramanco designs and writes its own software programs in-house so it can update your software and customise applications of the Chek-Way OBM system in real time to suit your particular applications.
The Chek-Way system received Queensland government written approval in 2010, leading to the successful implementation of A-doubles, and many other performance-based standards/higher mass limit combinations, Australia-wide.
The new Chek-Way Smart-R Amp passed TCA Type-A approval for OBM systems in 2018, and TCA Type-B approval in 2019.
The Smart-R Amp embodies all of the functions and features of the current TCA requirements, and future ones as well.
It is also backwards compatible so that current Chek-Way owners can have their existing Smart-Amp upgraded to Smart-R Amp Type-approved specification at nominal cost, which enables an existing system to meet both TCA type A and type B requirements.
With Chek-Way, Tramanco can even upgrade other systems to meet the same requirements.
