Time is running out to secure a ticket in one of the country’s most unique raffles, with just days remaining to win a custom-built 1947 Chevrolet Maple Leaf truck before it’s drawn this Sunday (July 12, 2026) in Townsville.

The striking red and black truck, affectionately named ‘Ruby’, is a fully restored classic, reimagined for modern driving and could soon be in the hands of one lucky winner. But beyond the keys, every ticket purchased is helping drive critical research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
‘Ruby’ is the ninth to be raffled by Australia’s largest transport and logistics specialist insurance provider NTI, in support of the MND and Me Foundation. Since 2017, NTI has raised more than $3 million for vital research, with 100 per cent of funds going directly to the official NTI Research Grant for MND.
NTI CEO Janelle Greene says this year’s build is one of the most impressive yet and urged people not to miss their chance to participate in the raffle.
“‘Ruby’ is truly something special, a classic Maple Leaf brought into the modern era with four-wheel drive capability, built for both adventure and everyday use,” she says.
“With the draw just days away, this is the final opportunity to be part of something bigger – not just the chance to potentially win an incredible truck, but to help fund life-changing research.
“Every ticket sold contributes to the fight against MND, a disease that continues to impact families across Australia every single day.”
Built on 2019 Hino 4×4 running gear and powered by a 4-litre turbo diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission, ‘Ruby’ combines vintage character with modern performance. It features four-wheel drive capability, front and rear differentials, four-wheel disc brakes and advanced handling systems, delivering the feel of a contemporary vehicle.
Designed for both work and recreation, the truck includes a 6-tonne electric winch, LED driving lights, heavy-duty front protection, diamond plate flooring and a 3.5-tonne tow bar. Inside, the cabin balances heritage styling with modern comfort, including electric windows, power steering, air conditioning, a touchscreen media system, reversing camera and a fully reupholstered interior.
MND and Me Foundation CEO Jane Milne says the impact of the raffle extends far beyond the prize itself.
“Funds raised through NTI’s annual truck raffle directly support critical research projects that aim to improve outcomes for people living with MND,” Milne says.
“Every ticket purchased brings us closer to better treatments and ultimately, a cure. The support from NTI and the community is making a real difference.”
In Australia, two people are diagnosed with MND and two people lose their lives to the disease every day. NTI launched the initiative following the passing of former CEO Wayne Patterson, who died from MND in 2018.
‘Ruby’ will be drawn at the NTI Townsville 500 on Sunday 12 July 2026.
