Foton is making sparks in the local EV market with the addition of a new tipper model.

Foton Mobility, a fresh player in the field of energy-efficient commercial transport, has unveiled its inaugural electric T5 Tipper model in Australia.

Distinguished as the company’s first of its kind in the country, this electric tipper stands out due to its remarkable 3,500kg braked towing capacity, setting it apart as a fully-prepared, all-electric tipping solution.

This exceptional attribute positions the vehicle ideally for various applications, including municipal services, landscaping enterprises, infrastructure maintenance, construction experts, and beyond.

Foton says the model, which features an Australian-made steel tipper body, is available for quick delivery now from Foton Mobility Distribution’s nationwide dealer network.

“We’re particularly proud of the T5 EV Tipper as it combines the positive attributes of going all-electric while also providing the performance and towing capabilities required in the real world,” Foton Mobility general manager of light duty vehicles Bill Gillespie says.

“From a financial standpoint, it makes a lot of sense as the model allows for a genuinely affordable entry into the EV tipper market with 20 per cent lower upfront and operational expenditure costs.”

While the new EV truck may be new to Australia, Foton says it comes with impressive credentials from markets around the world.

Last year alone, Foton produced more than 22,000 new energy commercial vehicles, with that number set to grow this year.

“In the short time we’ve been on sale here in Australia, we’ve claimed leadership in the pure-EV truck sales race,” Gillespie says.

“With the T5 EV Tipper, we’re looking to continue that growth.”

Gillespie says the Foton T5 EV can be configured for any final application in the light-duty field outside of its tipper capabilities.

Fast charging capabilities allow for a full recharge in one-and-a-half hours, while a standard 11kW AC onboard charger can fully recharge the battery in just over seven hours, allowing for overnight turnarounds.

The T5 EV fully loaded range is 180km, with a full safety suite included. Alongside full 24/7 roadside assistance, Foton EV trucks are also supported by a five-year/ 200,000km vehicle warranty, with the traction batteries having a warranty of eight years or 300,000kms.
