Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) has announced it is set to deliver a new heavy vehicle rest area on the Hume Highway.
The new Oversize Overmass (OSOM) and heavy vehicle rest area will be located along the northbound section of the Hume Motorway in Menangle, opposite the Partridge VC rest area.
The updated site will replace the informal dust bowl rest area and include enhanced safety features.

The new rest area will feature dedicated acceleration and deceleration lanes for improved safety and flexible parking to accommodate various truck types, including OSOM vehicles and their support vehicles through designated line-marked spots.
It will also cater to Performance Based Standards (PBS) and higher productivity vehicles up to 53.4m in length and safety barriers to separate it from the Hume Motorway.
TfNSW says construction begins next Monday January 13, and is expected to be done by June this year.
This means day works will take place between 7am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, while night works will also occur between 8pm and 4am from Sunday to Thursday.
Throughout the construction process, the Moolgun Creek OSOM stopping area will continue operating.
Once complete, the new rest area will be roughly 150m long and 30m wide.
