International ProStar wins truck of show in Brisbane

Three more years nailed down for Brisbane Truck Show at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

International has backed up news of its impending return to Australian trucking in emphatic style, with its ProStar picking up the Truck of the Show award at this year’s Brisbane Truck Show.

Parent firm Navistar garnered plenty of attention with the announcement before the show that the marque would again grace Australian roads next year after a six-year hiatus and speculation last September that this might be the case.

Six other companies were recognised with show awards at a Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) event hosted by show ambassador and rugby league great Shane Webcke.

Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) president Bob Martin presented the awards together with official show partners BP and TradeTrucks.com.au.

Martin acknowledged the official show partners for their support and praised the exhibitors for their world-class displays.

“It is a truly world class event and looks absolutely stunning,” he says.

“It is a credit to the industry in a home worthy of hosting Australia’s premier event – the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.”

He also re-affirmed the news that the CVIAQ had just signed a further three-show agreement with the BCEC.

This year’s awards gained two new categories taking the awards to seven major categories, with winners as follows:

  • Outstanding Exhibition Booth Display 36m² and Under presented by BCEC and awarded to Gulf Western Oils
  • Risk Management Excellence presented by Worklaw Health & Safety and awarded to Penske Commercial Vehicles
  • Outstanding Vehicle Component & Equipment Display presented by CVIAQ and awarded to Cummins South Pacific
  • Outstanding Trailer / Body Manufacturer Display presented by TradeTrucks.com.au and awarded to O’Phee Trailers
  • Outstanding Truck Manufacturer Display presented by BP Australia and awarded to Paccar Australia
  • Trailer of the Show presented by Castrol Vecton and awarded to Hamelex White.

The show has been well-received, with exhibitors ATN spoke to saying that business-wise it was superior to the 2013 effort.

While numbers did not top 2013’s record attendances, the first two days at 6,778 and 8,365 were only marginally off the earlier figures of 6,878 and 8,977.
