VicRoads seeks community consultants in Goulburn Valley

All road users requested to get involved with a new safety project

VicRoads is planning a road safety improvement project on the Goulburn Valley Highway, north of Melbourne.

Regional director Bryan Sherritt says a centre line wire rope barrier is likely to be the most effective solution to a number of crashes in the 13km section between Yea and Molesworth.

“Tragically, there have been a number of crashes on this section of the highway and the majority of crashes have involved vehicles drifting onto the wrong side of the road,” he says.

The project will be jointly funded between VicRoads and the Transport Accident Commission.

Sherritt is calling on stakeholders, including local transport operations, to take part in a community consultation session on the project.

“We are keen to seek feedback on the project design, project timing and staging, as well as identifying any issues or concerns relating to the project,” he says.

The second of three sessions takes place today until 7pm in Alexandra, with the final opportunity on Saturday morning in Mansfield.
