NHVR calls for patience as flu hits staff

Backlog being tackled but care sought on applications to speed process

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator says it has fallen foul of Brisbane’s resurgent influenza.

The national regulator has advised of workarounds as it struggles with the weight of its responsibilities.

“Staff numbers at the NHVR have been impacted in recent weeks by a significant increase in sick leave absences across all program areas due to a flu virus currently being experienced across Brisbane,” it advises.

“This has meant that, like many businesses in the city, our capacity in some of our key areas has been impacted.

“We have put strategies in place to manage the workload and ask industry for your understanding and patience as we work to maintain service levels and deal with the small backlog.”

Those seeking fast-track approvals are advised to provide any local council route approval with the application to the NHVR and ensure the application is fully completed and payment information is correct.

Ensuring applications are emailed to the correct email address is also crucial.
