LBRCA President welcomes ATA General Council position

President of the Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association (LBRCA), Lynley Miners, welcomes his role as the small fleet operator representative on the Australian Trucking Association's (ATA) General Council.

The down to earth livestock carrier and employer from the Snowy Mountains has transported goods across rural and metropolitan Australia for more than 30 years.

Lynley says he understands first-hand the everyday issues impacting the transport industry and is passionate about improving road freight conditions for the entire supply chain regardless of what is being carried or where it is being carried to.

A key priority, he says, is taking up the fight to remove the financial burden placed on the trucking industry through a fairer charging regime.

“I want to assist industry to get a fair go and real action on the current overcharging of the heavy vehicle industry,” Lynley said.

“This means working hard to see registration charges reduced and more funding directed towards road infrastructure upgrades to ensure drivers have a safe work environment to operate within.

“On-road compliance and enforcement is another area where I consider the enforcement regime sometimes works against operators and drivers trying to do the right thing.

“I am committed to working with industry and regulators to find a better solution to deal with non-safety related infringements in a way that doesn’t see a driver lose a day or week’s pay for unintentional clerical errors or similar non-safety related mistakes.”

“I am honored and very pleased to be representing the views and needs of all small fleet operators across the country for the next two years.”
