Iconic Aussie truck snapped up

The famous ‘Australiana’ Western Star 4800FXB we recently announced was up for tender by Penske Power Systems has sold to one lucky truckie

John Symes of John Symes Transport snapped up the iconic Star for his family business, after keeping his eye out for a unique low kilometre truck.

“Along with our son, Dean, we run a family-owned business and we were looking to buy a new truck with low kilometres on the clock,” says John.

“When I saw the unique paint scheme of the truck, I was convinced! I grew up on a farm, so I was very keen on the rural imagery – the horses, cattle, the whole feel of the livery.

“My family is very passionate about Western Star. The trucks are even tough enough to stand up to the battering of the Newell Highway! The reliability is outstanding.”

One very special Aussie truck is up for grabs

National used truck sales manager at Penske Power Systems, Jim Wong, says it was fitting that the prime mover is on its way to a true Western Star enthusiast.

“In speaking with John, it became clear that he and his family are true Western Star fans, so it’s appropriate that such an iconic truck would join his fleet,” says Jim.

“It will stand out as it makes its way around Victoria and the east coast of Australia.”
