Deals Data: Kenny Dominates

Deals on Wheels magazine reveals more than one third of all product searches across the Bauer Media Group classifieds network were for Kenworths, despite it accounting for only 7 per cent of the trucks for sale

Kenworth was, far and away, the most searched truck make on the Bauer Media Group truck and machinery classifieds network in the first four months of the year, exclusive new data reveals.

Almost 6,000 used trucks – from Atkinsons to Whites – are currently advertised for sale across the network comprising Fullyloaded.com.auOwnerDriver.com.au, TradeTrucks.com.au, TradeEarthmovers.com.au, TradeFarmMachinery.com.au and TradePlantEquipment.com.au – reaching an average of almost 500,000 ‘unique’ in-market buyers each and every month.

Despite accounting for just seven per cent of total trucks for sale, in the period January 1–April 19 almost 35 per cent of searches across the network were for Kenworth.

This is almost triple the number of searches for the second-most-searched make, Isuzu, which accounted for 12.25 per cent of all searches, and well ahead of Mack (11.64 per cent), Volvo (7.16 per cent), Hino (5.6 per cent), Western Star (5.26 per cent), Freightliner (3.78 per cent) and Scania (3.52 per cent).

Weight of numbers boost Isuzu

With almost 20 per cent of total stock listed for sale, it’s not surprising Isuzu was the most enquired-upon truck make on the Bauer Media Group truck and machinery classifieds network for the period January 1, 2019 to April 19, 2019.

The brand accounted for 18.6 per cent of enquiries in the period, well ahead of fellow Japanese make Hino at just over 10 per cent.

Despite comprising just seven per cent of trucks for sale, Kenworth proved its popularity, generating the third-most enquiries in the period at 10.37 per cent, ahead of Fuso (7.8 per
cent), Freightliner (7.7 per cent), Volvo (6.8 per cent), Mack (6.4 per cent) and Mitsubishi 4.75 per cent).

Rounding out the top 10 were Iveco (3.9 per cent) and Western Star (3.1 per cent).

Cantering along

Surprisingly, the Mitsubishi/Fuso Canter generated the most enquiries of any truck model on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network for the period January 1, 2019 to April 19, 2019.

The ‘little truck that can’ accounted for 6.4 per cent of enquiries in the period, ahead of another surprise packet, the Freightliner Argosy (4.2 per cent).

In third place was the Isuzu NPR (3.56 per cent), just ahead of the Hino 500 Series at 3.4 per cent and the Hino 300 Series at 3.1 per cent.

Filling out the top 10 were the International/Iveco Acco at 3 per cent, the Volvo FH (2.23 per cent), the Mitsubishi/Fuso Fighter (2 per cent), Volvo’s FM (1.7 per cent) and Isuzu’s FSR (1.5 per cent).
