Deals on Wheels: Revamped

We've taken Deals on Wheels into the workshop for a major facelift

Thirty-six years on Deals on Wheels still ranks as the thickest magazine on the newsstand. But to position it for continued success we’ve taken the old girl into the workshop and given her a major facelift.

When the first issue of Deals on Wheels rolled off the presses in 1985, Australian soapie Neighbours was making its debut on TV, ‘We Are the World’ by USA for Africa was blasting across the air waves, Super Mario Bros was being unleashed on the Nintendo Entertainment System, Coca-Cola released New Coke, Steve Jobs resigned from Apple to found NeXT, and Volvo began production of the FL in a bid to regain lost market share in the medium duty truck category.

While some failed to fly – especially New Coke, which would go down in history as one of the worst marketing blunders of all time, others such as Neighbours, Super Mario Bros and the Volvo FL would stand the test of time.

As has Deals on Wheels, which marked its 36th year of publication in January 2019 and, at a whopping 300+ pages every issue, is still renowned as ‘The Truck Buyers’ guidebook’.

But to prepare for the journey ahead we’ve taken the old girl into the workshop for some
fine tuning.

While we’ve left the engine room – the classifieds of thousands of used trucks, trailers, parts and accessories for sale – largely alone, we’ve given her a splash of fresh paint incorporating a more modern and user-friendly design.

And in direct response to market feedback, we’ve fitted some flash new gear to boost her performance for both readers and advertisers alike – including more unique content of  specific relevance and value to those looking to buy, sell or customise second-hand trucks.

Up front in the blinged-up cab we’ve added the ‘Premium Deals’ section, with stories showcasing classic big rigs currently for sale; and ‘Deals Data’ providing unique insights into what’s happening in the new and used truck markets, from monthly new truck sales numbers, to most searched and enquired-on used products, to list prices for popular second-hand makes and models.

And down back in the extended new trailer, we’ve added a new section – introduced with a separate premium-stock cover – featuring more than 50 pages of bespoke stories on classic truck models – including exclusive pricing data on key makes and models currently for sale, cool restoration projects, awesome show ‘n shine events, and inspiring industry characters.

With more power under the bonnet – enhanced by a thriving digital classifieds presence syndicated across not only TradeTrucks.com.au, but ATN’s Fullyloaded.com.au, OwnerDriver.com.au, TradeEarthmovers.com.au and TradeFarmMachinery.com.au, Deals on Wheels is positioned to remain ‘The Truck Buyers’ guidebook’ for many years to come!
