Supporting 95 full time equivalent jobs during construction, the project was jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments.
The new overtaking lane is approximately 20km east of Truro and will assist drivers to safely overtake slower moving vehicles.
The Sturt Highway has been repaired and rehabilitated between Stonefield Road and Bower Boundary Road in addition to this upgrade.
Two new eastbound rest areas have also been constructed at Shea-Oak Log and Annadale.
These upgrades will improve safety, freight efficiency and support regional economic growth.
Previous works completed in 2023 along the Sturt Highway included new eastbound and westbound overtaking lanes near Stockyard Plains and a new eastbound overtaking lane east of Waikerie.
