The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has announced the opening of Ollera Creek Bridge to all traffic.

Over several days, teams on the ground have worked around the clock in extreme weather conditions to fast track repairs.

The bridge serves as a key link for vehicles travelling between Townsville and Cairns and will now be accessible to the general public, after opening to freight, supply and emergency vehicles from February 10 at 8pm.

“We celebrate and thank [the teams] for their hard work in managing to re-open the bridge and restore this vital connection for the community,” says TMR.

“Please drive carefully and follow all signs and directions. The road crossing at Seymour River is flooded with modelling indicating that this will remain closed until as late as Thursday evening.

“TMR remains committed to your safety and ensuring the reliability of our road network.”

Relevant authorities will continue to communicate further updates and advice on travel and road conditions.

Motorists are urged to visit QLDTraffic for all traffic alerts, road closures and condition updates for major roads in Queensland.
