Allworks has over 40 Isuzu trucks in its fleet that operate over a dozen water-carting trucks, 15 crew cab models in both F Series and N Series guises, five FVS and FXZ 240-350 tipper trucks, half a dozen service trucks, and more.
Allworks general manager Nick McLoughney says the company offers everything from small tray tops to water trucks, tippers, and Hiab crane trucks.
“We either dry hire the trucks to our customers, or if we’re hiring out other machines, we might put an operator in one of the service trucks and send them out, or we’ll put a driver in a water cart, so it’s a real mixture,” he says.
McLoughney says there may be three or four different drivers in some of the company’s dry hire trucks per day, and the trucks can get treated quite roughly, so having a vehicle they know can be relied on is crucial for them, and their customers.
The FVS 240-300 performs water carting well, with its powerful 300 PS (221 kW) engine that develops 981 Nm of torque @ 1,450 rpm, sitting on a 6×4 platform with a considerable 24,000kg GVM.
The FXZ 240-350 is available in a 6×4 configuration and offers a 24,000 kg GVM, featuring Isuzu’s big 350 PS (257 kW) 9.8-litre, 6-cylinder engine with a thumping 1,422 Nm of torque @ 1,400 rpm.
The safety features of these vehicles include ABS brakes, electronic stability control, driver SRS seatbelt pre-tensioners and airbags, low-light-capable reversing cameras, ECE-R29-compliant cabs, and more.
Allworks’ 4×2 N Series and any 4×2 FRR/FRD and crew cab trucks are also covered by Isuzu’s intelligent Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), with features including emergency braking, lane departure warning and forward collision warnings to keep drivers safe.
McLoughney says the reliability of Isuzu trucks keeps Allworks returning to the brand time and time again, with more than two-thirds of its fleet working in remote locations.
“Our clients might be working 300 or 400 kilometres from the nearest service centre and a thousand kilometres from our head office,” he says.
“We mainly do our own servicing. However, if a truck is in a remote area, we may use a dealer to do the servicing, so it’s great to have the backing of such a broad coverage of dealers and service centres like Isuzu.”
And with time-sensitive projects such as rail shutdown works in the mix, reliable equipment is crucial to the operation’s success.
“There might be three or four days of preparation, and then they’ve only got a three or four-hour window to remove some rail and get new rail in before the next train comes along,” he says.
McLoughney says as a result, Isuzu Australia and Major Motors are helping Allworks achieve its company vision of ‘On Track, On Time’.
