Penske announces acquisition of truck repair company

Queensland-based truck distributor Penske Australia is continuing its expansion across the state's south-east with a new acquisition

Queensland truck distributor Penske Australia is continuing its expansion across the state, announcing its acquirement of local truck repair company Total Fleet Maintenance (TFM).

With the view to give greater coverage to its truck manufacturers including Western Star Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, Dennis Eagle, Detroit and Allison Transmission, the new ownership begins effectively immediately as of September 1.

Now fully aligned under the company, the Yatala facility becomes Penske’s third retail location in Queensland.

Penske Australia general manager of eastern operations John Delany welcomes the acquisition of the facility and a new set of workers into the company.

“In addition to our Wacol and Lytton facilities in Brisbane, our increasing on-highway customer base in south-east Queensland gave us an opportunity to expand our service network through TFM, which has a fantastic reputation in the area and brings skill and expertise to our network,” Delany says.

“We’re now able to cover the two largest regions in Queensland being Brisbane, including the port, and the Gold Coast.”

The newly acquired Yatala facility includes 21 workshop bays, brake and suspension testing capabilities, a heavy-vehicle inspection station and air conditioning re-gas services across the 2000sqm workshop.

TFM has been in service for 16 years, providing automotive repairs across Brisbane, Ipswich and the Gold Coast.

“As the 20-strong TFM workforce transitions into a Penske Australia location, led by branch manager Carl Landridge and assisted by Mark Parcell and Damon Hogg, the team will continue to provide the same service excellence that existing customers have come to expect,” Delany says.

“This will be further backed by Penske Australia’s ‘customer first’ philosophy, our streamlined systems and processes, and our extensive national parts capability that is underpinned by our world-class Penske distribution centre, located in Wacol.

“As we’ve done recently with Lytton and now in Yatala, Penske will continue to invest in our branch network to ensure we are located where our customers need us and to ensure that our facilities are equipped with the highest-performing equipment and tooling.

“Over the coming months, the TFM branch will be upgraded and rebranded to Penske Australia Yatala.”
