Due to a software issue, the brake lights may not illuminate as intended when the service brakes are automatically applied during an Active Brake Assist activation.
If the brake lamps do not operate like they’re supposed to, it may increase the risk of an accident-causing serious injuries or death to the driver and road users.
The vehicles are not compliant with the Australian Design Rules 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their preferred Western Star dealer to arrange to have the software updated, free of charge.
