Penske Australia is issuing a recall for 365 units of their 47X, 48X, 49X Western Star trucks, in the 2022-2023 year range.
Due to a software issue, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may not illuminate to alert the driver of a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) efficiency emission related issue.

Fortunately, there is no safety hazard, and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle, however they may not be compliant with the ADR 80/03 – Emission Control for Heavy Vehicles.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their preferred Western Star dealer to arrange updating their software, free of charge.
