New Iveco meets Euro 6 regulations without EGR

Truck manufacturer Iveco has taken advantage of the IAA show in Germany to spruik its two new Euro 6 heavy-duty models, the Stralis Hi-Way and the Trakker.

The Stralis arrives in Euro 6 form with two choices of engines: the 298kW Cursor 9 and the 358kW Cursor 11. Iveco claims the new Cursor 11 offers performance in line with expectations of other 13-litre engines on the market.

The big news for Iveco, however, is the Cursor engine’s ability to meet Euro 6 regulations using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) without resorting to using exhaust gas recirculation like most other European competitors.

The high efficiency SCR system goes by the name of Hi-e-SCR. The Stralis range is now divided into three cab configurations: the Hi-Way 2,500mm wide long-haul prime mover, The Hi-Road short-haul truck with a narrower 2,300 mm cab width and the Hi-Street low-roof model.
