Renault Unveil Euro 6 Range

By: Michael Cahill

Renault has announced an entire new range of trucks equipped with a Euro 6 engine and sporting a brand new aesthetic.

The new Renault Trucks T, K, D, and C range is the result of seven years of development and €2 billion of investment from the Volvo Group.

According to a media release, the truck range underwent the "most stringent testing Renault Trucks has ever carried out in its entire history." The testing process included bench tests at extreme temperatures, as well as having 300 of the vehicles being quality tested in real, on road conditions.

The long distance version, the T model, is said to be a "homogenous offering" whilst having a modular design in order to be adapted for specific applications. Despite the limitation of complying with Euro 6 emission standards, the fuel consumption is said to be as much as 5 per cent less than the previous model.

Amongst other new features, the Renault Trucks T has a "24/7" button  on the dashboard, which allows a driver to instantly report their location and diagnostic data to one of the 1600 worldwide sales and service outlets.

The C and K truck, which are the construction and heavy construction versions respectively, feature an improved, more ergonomic cab. They also have a Gross Combined Weight of up to 120 t, as well as new cornering lights.

Finally, the new D truck, which fills the distribution role, is available in 3 models: the D, the D Wide, and the D Access. All of these models will have an automatic transmission, which Renault claim will "reduce fuel consumption, preserve the vehicle's mechanical parts, limit maintenance costs and enable drivers to fully focus on their driving."

500 of the trucks have been manufactured so far, and Renault expect that this new range will increase its market share. It is unclear whether, or in what form, these trucks will appear in Australia
