Isuzu’s new Chief Engineer

Truck Industry Council’s Simon Humphries has returned to Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) as Chief Engineer, Product Strategy.

Humphries has been Chief Technical Officer with the Truck Industry Council (TIC) for the past three years. The TIC, formed in 2001, is Australia’s peak body for truck manufacturers and major component suppliers.

Humphries originally joined Isuzu in 1998 as Truck Sales Engineer, before assuming the Senior Engineering role from 2001 to 2009.

Before leaving IAL, Humphries oversaw several large model roll-outs, and was also heavily involved with Isuzu’s second generation compressed natural gas range.

Post-Isuzu, Humphries joined Wesfarmers’ Evol LNG (liquefied natural gas) as their East Coast Business Manager for two years.

After several years of expanding his skill base with Evol and TIC, Humphries says that he’s excited to rejoin Isuzu.

“In recent years the company has restructured its sales department, while the engineering team has also grown in size – I’m looking forward to working with both to ensure we continue to deliver superior products to our customers,” Humphries says.

IAL Director and Chief Operating Officer, Phil Taylor, says: “Simon is highly regarded in the commercial vehicle industry and will strengthen our engineering department.

“His two recent roles have expanded his knowledge base and industry contacts, and he returns to IAL able to offer our company more than ever before.”
