Redarc’s New Tow-Pro Brake Controller

Redarc has released a new brake controller that it says is a “world breakthrough”

The Australian company Redarc Electronics has just released the Tow-Pro, an electronic brake controller for tow vehicles with heavy trailers.  The main point of difference with this product is that it allows users to easily switch between different modes of braking to account for different road conditions.

“Tow-Pro is the only product that offers motorists the ability to swap between inertia sensing and user controlled braking depending on road conditions by simply turning a dial,” Redarc managing director Anthony Kittel says.

The inertia sensing mode works by applying a brake force to the trailer that is proportional to the brake force applied by the driver to the vehicle. The user controlled braking mode allows for the driver to manually control the brake level, and is better suited to off-road towing.

Electronic brake controls units are mandatory in Australia for trailers with a gross mass of over two tons, and Redarc say that the Tow-Pro complies with ADR21 safety standards.

“We plan to begin exporting to these markets as soon as we have international parts finalised,” Kittel adds.

Redarc Electronics was established in 1979, and according to Kittel the company uses mostly South Australian suppliers to source the materials for its units.
