Navistar launches fuel-efficient ProStar ES

Navistar announces the launch of the most fuel efficient truck it has ever made

Navistar International has announced that it will begin selling its new ProStar ES truck in the US this month.

The ES stands for ‘Efficiency Specification’, an apt title given that Navistar say that the prime mover is the most fuel-efficient it has ever made in its class

The ProStar is traditionally one of International’s most popular models, and its exterior has a lot in common with the Cat CT630S model that is currently available in Australia.

There’s no indication that the ProStar ES will come to the local market, though there is speculation that the International brand may return to Australia at some point.

Navistar say that the fuel efficiency gains come from a better integrated powertrain, some aerodynamics tweaks and an enhanced telematics platform.

The manufacturer has touted the aerodynamic performance of the ES in crosswind conditions as one of the key new features, as well as having an optimised powertrain right out of the box.

Navistar is offering two engine and transmission combinations, one with a 13L International N-series engine and the other with a Cummins ISX. Both are equipped with an Eaton Fuller 10-speed automated manual transmission.

“The Prostar ES is by far the highest quality and most fuel efficient package we’ve ever offered,” Navistar sales vice president John McKinney says.
