New V8s, customer services to headline Scania display

Truckmaker hails emissions control but operator solution is the main focus

New V8s, customer services to headline Scania display
Scania's Euro 6 compliant R 490 prime mover.

The Brisbane Truck Show will see the latest from truck maker Scania, with the Swedish company preparing to unveil its V8 range with Euro 6 emission compliance.

Scania’s stand will display prime movers from its P-series, G-series and R-series ranges, including the R 490 prime mover with its highline cab, the mid-sized G 450 and two V8 Euro 6 models, the R 580 V8 and R 730 V8.

Joining the range of Scania trucks available to Australian customers, the R-series V8 models are the first V8-powered trucks in Australia to be Euro 6 compliant.

While the new prime movers will draw interest from visitors, Scania is focused on its Total Transport Solution concept according to Scania public relations manager Alexander Corne.

"The majority of our stand will be dedicated to explaining the Scania Total Transport Solution concept, which is a range of customer friendly services that enhance the ownership experience, from specification pre-purchase, to maintenance and repair programmes to driver training, follow-up coaching and truck rental," Corne says.

"An innovation launched in time for the show is our new driver Services concept which provides valuable operational data in real time for customers."

Corne confirmed that there will experts on hand to take transport operators through the ins and outs.

"We aim to expose show goers to the concept of Scania as a Total Transport Solution provider," Corne says.

"We are not at the show just to expose the product, but to enhance prospective customer understanding of how our efficiency-oriented services may contribute positively to their operational profitability."

Scania will also show off its Scania OnBoard fleet management solution and Scania Optimise driver training program.

Scania OnBoard is represented to the driver on a dashboard touch-screen display and allows drivers and the operating base to communicate via text messages and respond to job scheduling instructions. Driver logs are available to the operating base and touch-screen interactivity is locked when the truck is moving.

Scania Optimise aims to maximise fuel efficiency through a series of driver assistance sessions.

For children and dedicated Scania fans alike, the company will also have a large limited-edition poster of an ‘exotic’ Scania truck to give away.

The Brisbane Truck Show will kick off on May 14.
