Uniden releases 2-way radio and Jump Start Kit

Uniden is tackling communication issues and flat batteries with two new products

Uniden has unveiled the new five-watt UH950S UHF CB two-way radio for communication in rural areas and the Jump Start Kit for flat batteries and tyre inflation.

The UH950S UHF CB two-way radio, designed for communication in areas with little or no mobile phone coverage, features a metal alloy chassis, 2300mAh lithium-ion battery for 27 hours of operating time, a backlit keyboard, and a LCD display.

With a range of 15km over 80 frequencies, Uniden says the UH950S incorporates its Master Scan technology to ensure a clear channel of communication.

“Whether it’s talking on one or several channels, if the existing channel is interrupted by users outside of the group, all radios in the group will automatically hop to a new, clear channel,” Uniden says.

“This ensures users in a group can continue their conversations without unwanted disruptions.

“Other convenient features include Rapid Scan, which enables the UH950S to scan channels quicker than other typical UHF handheld radios.

“Voice Scramble clutters the voice signal to prevent other users lacking special descrambling equipment from understanding the conversation.”

The $329.95 radio has been temperature-tested to withstand both hot and cold conditions, is waterproof to JIS7 world standard, and shock resistant.

The company’s second release, the Jump Start Kit, can recharge a flat battery, power devices in vehicle, and even adjust a vehicle’s tyre pressure.

The kit includes a 12-volt portable battery and a set of jump cables to combat flat batteries, and a pressure gauge and an in-built air hose for tyre inflation.

The $199.95 Uniden Jump Start Kit has a 2-1 mini USB/micro USB cable to charge portable devices and features a LED flashlight for visibility in dark environments.
