Azmeb facility closes in Bundaberg

Lack of mining demand forces MaxiTrans to spread Azmeb manufacturing

Trailer provider MaxiTrans is relocating the manufacturing of subsidiary Azmeb tipper products, resulting in the closure of its Bundaberg facility.

MaxiTrans says it will continue to build and sell Azmeb products in Australia at other company facilities but the reduction of demand from the resources sector has meant Bundaberg is no longer viable.

"The decline in resources sector investment and mining activity has significantly reduced the demand for the Azmeb product and the company does not see a material improvement in demand for these products into the foreseeable future," a MaxiTrans statement says.

"Accordingly, to ensure the company continues to operate an efficient manufacturing business model, the Board has decided to close the Bundaberg manufacturing facility that produces the Azmeb products and relocate its production to its other manufacturing facilities."

Azmeb became part of MaxiTrans in 2012 as part of the company’s push into the mining and waste sectors.
