Mainfreight fleet adopts Zebra’s enterprise computers

New partnership delivers 1,500 Mainfreight employees with TC75 devices

Logistics company Mainfreight is revamping its Australian and New Zealand fleets with Zebra Technologies’ next-generation TC75 devices as part of a US$3 million partnership.

Expected to be rolled out by the end of the year, Zebra Technologies will provide 1,500 enterprise mobile computers that, it says, will boost Mainfreight’s processing, delivery and collection efficiency.

“Our next generation TC75 mobile computers are designed to help businesses accelerate the adoption of their mobility solutions, improve productivity and operational agility and unlock true enterprise asset intelligence,” general manager at Zebra Technologies, David Arkles says.

Mainfreight, who have been using devices from Zebra Technologies since 1991, says it is proud to be the first to integrate the technology.

“Zebra’s next generation TC75 mobile computer is a significant step up on our existing equipment, and puts us and beyond our competitor’s capabilities,” Mainfreight group IT manager Kevin Drinkwater says.

“It will also enable us to introduce future functionality that is well beyond what we could deliver today.”

The TC75 is a durable Android-based computer with multi-carrier 4G LTE capabilities and a suite of mobility enabling applications, development tools and utilities.

For couriers, the TC75 is capable of scanning 1D and 2D barcodes, taking photographs and recognising signatures.

Zebra says the device is dust-tight and capable of surviving water immersion and eight-foot drops onto concrete.
