Penske appoints engineering operations chief

New head takes over from retiring Guy Macklan, who will consult to the company

Penske Power Systems has gained experienced engineering identity Ross Deves as its national engineering manager.

Deves has more than 30 years’ experience working across Australia’s on-highway industry, delivering strategic engineering development and expertise, Penske notes.

He has held positions at some of the country’s more high-profile companies and organisations, including National Heavy Vehicle Regulator vehicle standards principal engineer, Volvo Mack Trucks chief engineer, DaimlerChrysler Australia engineering manager and Powertrans engineering manager.

He will lead a team of engineers and technicians based in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.

Based in Penske’s Melbourne facility, Deves replaces Guy Macklan who has retired after 27 years of service to the business, its customers and the industry.

According to Penske director of off-highway Hamish Christie-Johnston, it was important for the business to recruit a suitable successor to support the growth the business is experiencing.

“I look forward to working closely with Ross to promote and further enhance Penske Power Systems’ first-class engineering services and capabilities across our diverse market sectors, growing our market share and delivering tailored solutions to our customers,” Christie-Johnston says.

“At the same time I would like to thank Guy Macklan for his tremendous contribution to Penske Power Systems’ on- and off-highway engineering business.

“His legacy, knowledge and contribution is unparalleled in the industry, and we are very fortunate that he will continue to consult to the company.”
