Iveco Australia promises customer interaction and risk-based thinking.

Iveco Australia claims it is the first commercial vehicle manufacturer and distributor in Australia to meet the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems Standard.

The certificate has been recently-updated by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to introduce further checks on risk mitigation by certified businesses, and Iveco says it has already gained approval.

"Iveco Australia is the first organisation to be certified by LRQA Australia to the revised ISO 9001:2015 Standard," Iveco Australia marketing manager Darren Swenson says.

"Whilst it’s important to have a quality management system in place, the fact that we were amongst the first few companies in the world to achieve this prestigious certification, demonstrates the commitment and leadership in the organisation – it helps ensure that a company’s products and services meet a high level of quality."

The changes to the standard, which came on the back of a three-year review by the ISO, focus on customer interaction, integrating multiple management systems, and risk-based thinking.

While businesses have a three-year window to adapt their business practices from the 2008 version to the updated standard, Iveco Australia says the quick change "further demonstrates the robust management systems practiced in Iveco Australia," and will lead "to an even better customer experience for Iveco commercial vehicle owners."

Iveco says its senior management have "reinforced their commitment" to ensuring quality and will be held to it by the standard.

"One of the benefits of having a certified management system is that it ensures that all business processes and operations are critically reviewed and assessed for promoting business effectiveness, improving value to our customers and ensuring that our products and services continue to be reliable, safe and to specifications," Swenson says.

The 2015 edition of the standard was published in September last year.
