RMS unveils new Traffic Volume Viewer for Sydney

Roads and Maritime Services online tool available for use

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has launched the latest version of its Traffic Volume Viewer designed to monitor traffic at key locations throughout the Greater Sydney metropolitan area.

The online tool reflects the annual average daily traffic calculated through data from roadside traffic collection stations across the NSW road network.

The map shows the locations of traffic count stations, which report the number of vehicles on the road, and traffic classifier stations, which count the vehicles and differentiate between light and heavy vehicles.

“Permanent and sample traffic collection stations are strategically placed in areas influenced by rapid routes, infrastructure development and performance reporting needs,” an RMS spokesperson says.

“The new Traffic Volume Viewer has comprehensive traffic information from 2006 to 2016 presented in a cleaner and easier to understand format.”

The online interactive tool is part of RMS’ journey information suite.
