VW Transporter, Multivan and Caravelle models recalled

Volkswagen has recalled 2016 models over airbag issues which may deploy incorrectly in the event of a crash

Volkswagen Group Australia has announced a recall for T6 Transporter, Multivan, and Caravelle vans over airbag deployment issues.

According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission notice, “in the event of an accident the front left side airbag may not deploy correctly because of an incorrectly folded airbag.”

“The effectiveness of the front left side airbag may be reduced which may increase the risk of injury to the occupants of the front passenger seat in the event of a collision,” the notice says.

The models were sold nationally in 2016 from authorised dealers.

Affected owners will be contacted via a letter.
