Iveco Daily models recalled over air bag issues

Unexpected air bag deployments spark Iveco Daily recalls

Iveco Trucks Australia has recalled 363 Daily van and cab chassis models over potential airbag deployment issues.

According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, the air bags fitted into the Iveco models may be affected by a misplaced air conditioning tube and activate unexpectedly.

“Moisture may enter the air bag module because of a misalignment of the air conditioning system drain tube,” the notice says.

“Moisture in the air bag module may cause the air bags/s to deploy unexpectedly, potentially causing an accident or injuring passengers.”

Sold nationally between June 1, 2013 and June 7, 2015, the recall covers 50C and 70C MY14 Daily 4×2 Cab Chassis models and 35S and 50C MY14 Daily 4×2 Van models.

Iveco says the issue is part of an existing product campaign where customers were notified previously, however there are still customers who have not the issue resolved.

The remaining owners will be notified by letter.
