Boto tyres gain PBS approval

TTA-supplied trailer tyres have been independently tested to meet PBS

Boto tyres gain PBS approval
The Boto BT370 is one of three tyres to be PBS approved.

Tyre & Tube Australia (TTA) and its affiliated national truck tyre service provider TruckPower have announced three Boto tyres are Performance Based Standards (PBS) approved.

After testing the in US, TTA says the three high performance trailer tyres in the Boto 11R22.5 range have been classified as suitable for PBS fitment on Australian truck and trailers, subject to assessor review and approval.

"Based on the latest up to date performance parameters the Boto 11R22.5 trailer tyres have been performance tested by the world’s leading flat bed testing system – the Smithers RAPRA facility in Ohio USA," the company says.

"That recent performance data has been appraised by a leading Australian registered Transport Engineering company (PBS Assessor)."

Two of the three tyres, the Boto 11R22.5 BT212N and the Boto 11R22.5 BT370 HD, received a level one PBS ranking, TTA says, making them suitable for most PBS vehicle combinations.

"TS001 is the highest ranking achievable via this authorized assessor and therefore allows these two patterns of Boto tyres to be fitted to the majority, if not all, PBS required vehicles in Australia," TTA says.

The third tyre, the Boto 11R22.5 BT168, received a level three PBS ranking making its suitable for specific roles.

"This also allows multiple PBS applications and is not an indication of lesser quality – rather a function of being an application specific mixed surface tyre with differing design and operational requirements," the company says.

To run under the PBS scheme, an authorised assessor must give their tick of approval; a process that TTA says it can assist customers with.
