Second recall in November highlights transmission issues for van range
For the second time this month, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia has recalled a number of its HiAce models, this time over transmission issues.
According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, the latest recall sees affected HiAce models with problems changing gear positions.
“On the involved vehicles the related gear position (P_R_N_D) may not match the expected vehicle behaviour, i.e. unable to shift out of Park or shift out of a forward or reverse drive position (D_R),” the notice says.
“Unable to shift out of Park or shift out of a forward or reverse drive position (D_R) may increase the risk of an accident.”
Sold nationally between December, 2009 and February, 2012, Toyota says affected owners will be contacted by mail at their last known address, inviting them to contact their nearest dealership to organise to have a recall carried out free of charge.
