Volvo announces new live test

The FH model, using the I-Shift Dual Clutch technology, will team up with a paraglider

Volvo Trucks is attempting a new live test to promote its I-Shift Dual Clutch-equipped powertrain.

The new test, called ‘The Flying Passenger’, will hit the truck maker’s social media platforms on Tuesday, November 29, and involve a paraglider and a Volvo FH prime mover.

While Volvo has been quiet on the details, it says the test will be the first of its kind and will involve connecting the paraglider to the Volvo, which is powered by a D13 Euro 6 engine, to see how the powertrain performs.

“Any truck driver knows how difficult it is to maintain cruising speed in hilly terrain,” Volvo Trucks president Claes Nilsson says.

“In order to do that, you need an engine and gearbox enabling extraordinary driveability.”

“‘The Flying Passenger’ is a test that demonstrates the outstanding performance and efficiency of our enhanced powertrain.”

Volvo has released a trailer video, watch it below.
